Christ the True and Better Judah in Genesis 44
In this service, we looked at Judah’s offer of himself to take Benjamin’s punishment so that Benjamin could go free. Then we considered how Judah points to Christ and his offering of himself to receive our punishment for sin. As our hymn of response to the sermon, we sang the brand new hymn by Keith Getty, Matt Papa, and Matt Boswell, Christ the True and Better. We also sang Before the Throne of God Above as a reminder of that Christ is our mediator, who continues to intercede for His people; and we sang O God, Our Help In Ages Past, which is Isaac Watts’ faithful rendering of Psalm 90 from the year 1719.
