Pleading God’s Promises in Genesis 32-33
All of our Scriptures and hymns on this Sunday were selected because they encourage us to remember that our Lord is ready to receive and answer the prayers of His people. Our pastor preached from Genesis 32 where we considered Jacob’s prayer. He pleaded for God to fulfill His promises by delivering him from the wrath of his brother Esau. We also consider Jacob’s wrestling with the Lord for His blessing. We sang Psalm 42, one of the Bible’s most urgent prayers for deliverence: Lord from Sorrow’s Deep I Call. We also sang about Christ’s role as our mediator in prayer as we sang What a Friend We Have in Jesus. The bulletin from the service is posted here, and a video of the service is posted below.
