The Death & Burial of Sara in Genesis 23

On this Sunday we considered the death of Sarah, who proved to be a model of those who have faith in the Lord (Hebrews 11:11). We also considered the grief of a faithful husband displayed by Abraham. Finally we considered the dignity of the human body that is made in the image of God and remains in union with Christ even in the grave after the Christian’s soul has departed to be with the Lord (Westminster Shorter Catechism 37, 1 Corinthian 15:18, 1 Thessalonians 4:16).
