The Covenant of Grace in Genesis 15:7-21
On this Sunday, we considered the picture of God’s plan of Salvation that we see acted out in the Covenant ceremony in Genesis 15:7-21. It is amazing that the King of Kings and Lord of Lords would stoop down to enter into a Covenant—a Treaty—with sinners like Abraham and all of us who will put our faith in the promises that He makes available in His Son.
We sang two of the great anthems of the church: Holy, Holy, Holy (depicting the Triune God in the throne room in heaven) and Rock of Ages (depicting God the Son’s sacrifice for sinners). We also sang a 21st Century hymn that is loved for its powerful depiction of Christ’s sacrifice during holy week leading up to his Resurrection, Jerusalem (an acoustic version here and a fun version by an Anglican church in South Africa here). The bulletin is posted here, and a video of the service is below.
