“Two Kings” in Matthew 2

calendar_today December 18, 2022

On the Fourth Sunday of Advent, our pastor preached from Matthew 2. We considered the 2 kings depicted in the passage: (1) The Herod the Great, the murderous King of the Jews who was given His throne by Rome, and (2) the child Jesus Christ, born King of the Jews, who promises eternal life to all who will believe and follow him. During this time of year when some of us grieve the loss of family members and friends more acutely, we are reminded that we still live in a world bullied by the curse of death. Yet we gather to worship our King who comes to reverse the curse, who “comes to make His blessings flow as far as the curse is found.” A video of the service is posted below, and the bulletin is posted here.
