Leaving Babylon for a Promised Land in Genesis 11
Our pastor preached on the Tower of Babel this Sunday. Much of Scripture addresses individual sin & redemption, but this passage seems to emphasize what it is like to be in the midst of a group–or an entire city in this case–that is moving away from God. There is much wisdom to be gained from this passage that encourages us as we seek to live in the midst of our own times and culture. We sang several hymns, some old ones like Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing (sung by Christians since 1758) and some old ones with new tunes like Jesus I My Cross Have Taken (written in 1824 and set to a new tune in 2001). The Bulletin is posted here. We regret that the video from this service is not available.
