The Fall Part 1: The Covenant of Works and Covenant of Grace in Genesis 3
After 7 weeks examining God’s creation of the world, we have reached the historic account of Adam’s fall into sin in Genesis 3, which we will look at over 2 weeks. This week we considered Adam’s fall from a covenantal perspective. In Romans 5, God’s Word tells us that all of humanity lives or dies by one of two representatives: Adam representing the Covenant of Works or Jesus representing the Covenant of Grace. In the Covenant of Works, we will fail to earn God’s eternal life by our good works. In the Covenant of Grace, Jesus lived the perfect life in our flesh, earned God’s eternal salvation, and by grace gives it away as a free gift to all who will accept Him as their representative.
