The Lord’s Day for Rest, Worship, and Mercy: The Second Creation Ordinance in Gen 1:26-2:25

calendar_today July 10, 2022

This Sunday we continued our examination of God’s three creation ordinances in Genesis 1:26-2:25, focusing on God’s call to spend the first day of the week in rest, worship, and doing acts of mercy. Resting is very counter-cultural here in the DC area where many of our friends and co-workers put their identity and personal value in their careers and their achievements. So on Sundays we gather to be reminded of the good news of the Gospel: that God loves us—not because of our good work or our achievements—but because He chose to love us. And He redeems us—not because of our good works—but because He recognizes His Son’s perfect works done on our behalf. When we put our confidence in that message, we will be able to find rest in Christ (Matthew 4:28-29) and to stop trying to earn the love of God and man through our works. The bulletin is posted here. The Facebook Livestream crashed at the beginning of the service and is not available.
