Supremacy of Christ over Parents & Children in Colossians 3:20-21
Faith in Christ should transform the parent-child relationship into one where parents train their children and children obey the parents. All parents are training their children in something (e.g., academic achievement, sports, music). The Lord through Moses in Deuteronomy 6:4-7 and Paul in Colossians 3:21 is exhorting Christian parents to train them to love the God with all of their heart, soul, mind and strength and their neighbors as themselves (Luke 10). All other important training should be brought under the Lordship of Christ and cultivated to bring glory to their creator who gave them gifts and talents in academics, sports, and music.
