The Good New of “Peace Be With You” in John 20:19-23

calendar_today March 7, 2022

In this worship service, we consider the Resurrection of Jesus Christ in John 20. We specifically focused on Jesus message to His disciples on that first Easter evening (and to us now) of “Peace be with you.” The Resurrection of Jesus gives us the power to find peace with God and peace with our neighbor.

We also sang a new hymn. Afflicted Saint, to Christ Draw Near is a meditation on the second half of Deuteronomy 33:25: “as your days, so shall your strength be.” As night follows day, seasons of weakness will follow seasons of strength. The Apostle Paul once prayed for God to remove his weakness, and Christ responded: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” So Paul decided to “boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Cor 12:9) We also sang the great hymns God All Nature Sings Thy Glory, set to the beautiful tune ODE TO JOY, and How Firm a Foundation.

The video of the service is below, and the bulletin is posted here.
