God Our Helper

Porter preached from John 14:12-17, and we considered two of the ways Christ makes His power available to us in (1) prayer and (2) the Holy Spirit. Jesus describes the Spirit using the Greek word parakletos, which may be translated as our Helper (ESV), our Comforter (KJV), and our Advocate (NIV). We explored each of these names and drew encouragement from the Person of the Triune God who comes to live in us so that He may help us.
