Maundy Thursday: A New Commandment in John 13

calendar_today April 2, 2021

Maundy Thursday receives its name from the Latin word mandatum, which means commandment, since it was on Thursday of Holy Week that Christ said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another.” (John 13:34). During this special communion service, we consider the humility of our Savior, who washed the feet of His disciples. We consider what is new about the “new commandment.” And we receive the Lord’s Supper as a new sign of a new covenant.
