Suffering & Salvation in 1 Peter 3:18-22

calendar_today June 29, 2020

In this passage, the Apostle Peter points his audience towards the example of Noah as one who put his faith in God’s Word that the ark would deliver him and his family from God’s judgment. The building of Noah’s ark is instructive to us as we build Christ’s church. Our message is the similar to Noah’s message: Put your faith in God’s Word that judgment is coming, take refuge in his Son and His church, come in through the waters of baptism and be saved! His standards of performance is more demanding that you will ever meet: perfect righteousness. You have already failed to meet it. But his grace and forgiveness are more than you can imagine if you will put your faith in his Son’s performance on your behalf, and stop putting your faith in your own performance.
