Jesus’ Promise of Persecution
Pentecost Sunday is that 50th day after Easter when we remember God the Father and God the Son pouring out the Holy Spirit on God’s people (Acts 2:17-18, 33) as He promised to in Joel 2:28-29. During the service we remembered how the Spirit gave Peter’s preaching the power to convert 3,000 souls in one sermon (Acts 2:40). Our pastor then preached Jesus’ Fourth and final Beatitude from His “Sermon on the Plain” in Luke 6:22-23, and we considered the supernatural joy that Christ gives his people when they are persecuted on account of Him.
