A Message for ‘Chosen Exiles’ in 1 Peter 1:1-2

calendar_today March 8, 2020

We begin our first sermon in the book of 1 Peter discussing how the Apostle Peter addresses his audience as “chosen exiles.” The Apostle is writing to Christians who live as a distinct minority within a larger, unbelieving society. Peter’s message is that the power of the risen Jesus Christ will enable them to live as resident aliens who are engaged in loving their neighbors yet retaining their citizenship in another kingdom and remaining distinct by not fully assimilating.
