Christ is not like the World in John 7:1-24
At the beginning of John Chapter 7, Jesus finds increasing opposition from the crowds, from the religious authorities, and even from His own brothers. We live in a culture where people are increasingly voicing (and sometimes acting upon) their opposition to others. Some have coined the term “cancel culture” for the impulse to condemn those who say things that the majority objects to or finds offensive. We will look at how Christ deals with those who want to cancel him. We will see that He does not change His message that they oppose. We will also see that He does not mirror the cancel culture around him that simply condemns without grace and forgiveness. Jesus continues to offer forgiveness and redemption to those who accept it. At the end of the sermon, we pray that He would make our hearts more like His and less like the world’s heart and its cancel culture. The bulletin for the service is posted here.
