Faithfulness in Our Callings in Genesis 39

On this Sunday we considered the Biblical doctrine of vocation and what God’s Word says about our labors in the workplace. Our pastor preached from Genesis 39 and from what the Apostles Paul and Peter teach us about Christ’s claim upon our work. One of the great encouragements of the passage is that our God is with us in the work place.

During the service we sang a new hymn for the first time. Our God Will Go Before Us was published this year by Matt Boswell, Keith Getty, and Matt Papa. This is God’s Covenant promise to Abraham, to Israel, and to Christians in the church: that our God is with us. We also sang Wendell Kimbrough’s version of Psalm 62.
