Good Work in John 21:1-14
What does church on Sunday have to do with work on Monday? Is knowing Jesus more than a bus ticket to heaven that we use at the end of this life when we are done at this bus stop? Or, on the other hand, does Jesus have something to say about the work we do in our offices, classrooms, hospitals, and homes? In this service we looked at how the Lord speaks to these questions in our Old Testament passage, Genesis 2:1-15, and in our New Testament passage that our pastor preached from, John 21:1-14. Then, in response to the most famous breakfast ever served (by Jesus in the John passage), we sang We Will Feast in the House of Zion by Sandra McCracken and considered how that breakfast and the Lord’s Supper are signs of the feast that the Lord will serve us in the new creation. And to continue our singing of hymns of Lament during Lent, we sang a beautiful version of Psalm 16, Preserve Me O God, by King David, among several other hymns. The video of the service is posted below, and the bulletin is posted here.
