Here We Go Again? Our Besetting Sin & Our Promise Keeping God

Our pastor preached from Genesis 20 on God’s faithfulness to unfaithful Abraham—even when he falls to a besetting sin that recurs again in his life. We considered how this is a picture of God’s faithfulness to Christians even when they are unfaithful. We also sang about the Lord’s faithfulness to us using the following hymns:  

• Our God, Our Help, In Ages Past (by Isaac Watts from 1719)

• Preserve Me, O God (a very close paraphrase of Psalm 16 from around 1000 BC)

• Afflicted Saint to Christ Draw Near (original words by John Fawcett in 1782 with new music by Connie Dever in 2018)
