Hypocrisy & Repentance in Genesis 38
Our pastor continued preaching in Genesis 38. God’s narrative took us on a digression from the life of Joseph to tell us about his brother Judah. Judah appears to be a foil to righteous Joseph. After we hear God’s Word describe Judah’s sexual immorality in uncomfortable detail, our pastor asked the question why? Why did God record this sordid story in His Word for His church to read? Our pastor then tried to show us how Judah’s repentance is a model on par with King David’s, and that Judah was a changed man for he rest of his life. During the service, we sang the 18th Century hymn by Charles Wesley, O For a Thousand Tongues To Sing, and the recent hymn by CityAlight, Yet Not I But Thru Christ in Me, among others. A video of the service is below, and the bulletin is posted here.
