Palm Sunday: Rivers of Living Water in Gospel of John 7:25-47
In this Palm Sunday service, children processed into the sanctuary, waiving palm fronds, during the first hymn “All Glory Laud and Honor.” Then during the sermon, we considered the second half of John 7. There, the authorities are actively trying to arrest Jesus, but they cannot lay a hand on Him because God will not allow it until 6 months later at the Passover. Christ and His church have faced active opposition for 2,000 years, and that continues today in many places. This passage is a comforting reminder that nothing befalls Christ’s church that is beyond His good will; and, that despite opposition, His church will persevere until He returns to usher His church into our rest in the new creation.
