The Church and State in Genesis 21:22-34

On Palm Sunday we considered the relationship of the Church to the State. On one side of the spectrum, Genesis 21:22-34 gives us a picture of the Church and State in a time of harmony and peace as Abraham and King Abimelech enter into a covenant with each other. On the other side of the spectrum, Palm Sunday gives us a picture of the Church and State in conflict. As we consider where the church in America falls on that spectrum today, Abraham gives us a model to follow as we pursue peace with our neighbors in our community.
