The Love of Christ in John 11:1-16
On this day, our pastor preached on Christ’s love for Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, his friends and ministry supporters in the Jerusalem suburb of Bethany. We considered Christ’s love for us, his people in this suburb of another capital city. In response to the message, we sang the new hymn Let Us Be Known By Our Love.
During the service, we also read from the Old Testament about how the Lord met with and comforted Jacob as he fled through strange lands. Jacob responded by worshiping Him in the field where He saw the Lord, calling the place “an awesome place,” naming it Bethel, which means house of the Lord. In response to that, we sang the beautiful, traditional hymn, How Sweet and Awesome is The Place.
