Two Kingdoms with Two Heads in the Gospel of John 8:36-59

During this service, our pastor preached from John 8:36-59, which finishes Christ’s teaching to the crowd in the Temple. This passage is exciting because Jesus pulls back the curtain of the natural world to tell us about the source of evil in the world, the devil, who He tells us is a murderer and a liar. This passage has been a great encouragement to Christians because it shows that our Savior has a heart of compassion to come and undo the effects of sin and death that the devil has wrought in the world. Our God is not unmoved by our suffering. He came to suffer with us, His heart continues to be moved with compassion for us, and He is bringing all of world history to a conclusion in a new earth where there will be no more evil and no more suffering.
